Hi, I’m Chico. I’m a writer, video creator, and political commentator based in Finland. I explore culture, history, politics, and identity — and I try to speak honestly, even when it’s unpopular. If you’re tired of outrage and looking for something real, welcome.

Why Finland Fought with the Nazis

Finland didn’t choose Nazi ideology — it chose survival. Isolated, betrayed by the West, and nearly destroyed by the Soviets, Finland made a desperate wartime decision. This is the untold story of how a democracy ended up fighting alongside Nazi Germany — and why it walked away from both powers.

Being Black in Finland Is Great — and That Shouldn’t Be Controversial

Finland is one of the few places I’ve lived where the colour of my skin doesn't dominate my daily life. But the moment I say that out loud, the backlash begins. This piece is about race, ideology, peace — and why I’m proud to call Finland home, even if that offends some people.

The videos are just the start

In my newsletter, I go deeper — into culture, identity, politics, and the stories behind the camera. If you’ve ever watched something I made and wanted more… this is where it lives.

About Me

I'm a writer, storyteller, and political commentator living in Finland.

I was born in the Congo, raised in South Africa, and now find myself calling the Nordics home. I create content about culture, politics, identity, and history — because it helps me make better sense of the world.

I love Finland. It’s my home, and I will always defend it. Its calm, its culture, its values — there’s something precious here, something worth protecting. But I also know the challenges we face in Finland are part of something bigger. Western societies everywhere are being tested — by polarization, by a loss of meaning, by voices that tear down more than they build.

So I try to speak into that. Whether I’m unpacking Finland’s wartime alliances, sharing what it’s like being Black in a nearly all-white country, or questioning modern activist narratives, I aim to tell stories that go beyond outrage.

My content is rooted in this place — but it speaks to anyone looking for clarity, honesty, and a bit of sanity. Because sometimes it feels like the world has lost its mind.

Here’s to finding a little clarity in a noisy, fast-moving world.

Should Finland Ban the Burqa and the Niqab?

This video looks at why the Burka and Niqab should be banned in Finland. These garments are not neutral — in many countries they are symbols of oppression and control. The real question is: what happens when community pressure starts to strip away the freedom of young girls here? Finland has to decide whether to defend its values of freedom and equality, or risk losing them over time.

When a Furball Becomes Racist

A beloved Moomin character — Stinky — was removed from an exhibition in New York after someone claimed he might be racist. Yes, really. In this video, I break down why this story is both hilarious and disturbing — and what it says about America’s obsession with race compared to Finland’s very different way of seeing the world.

The West is under attack — not with bombs, but with ideas

From migration politics to foreign propaganda, we’re watching once-stable societies like Finland quietly lose the values that made them work. This video connects the dots — from street-level crime in South Africa, to Chinese influence campaigns, to why Finland accused Russia of weaponizing migration. It’s not just about racism or refugees. It’s about survival.

No, It Actually Isn't

In this video, I respond to a recent comment by American commentator Charlie Kirk claiming that “Finland is very Russian.” As someone who lives in Finland and deeply respects its history, I break down why that statement is not only factually wrong—but deeply disrespectful.

Why Culture Matters

We often talk about politics, economics, and social issues... but none of it matters if we forget what holds this country together: trust, discipline, and a shared sense of identity

Should Finland recognize a Palestinian state — while Hamas still controls Gaza?

It may sound like justice, but timing matters. In this piece, I explore why calls for recognition during an active war risk legitimizing terror-and how Finland's moral clarity is being tested. Because peace can't be built on lies, and truth must come before recognition.

Finland Made America Look Small

In this piece, I compare two meetings: one in Helsinki with President Stubb, the other in Washington with Donald Trump. The difference? Night and day. What happened in the Oval Office wasn’t just awkward — it was alarming. It raised uncomfortable questions about who still stands for democracy… and who’s forgotten what it even means.

Is Finland a Racist Country?

It’s a question I get asked often—as a Black immigrant, and as someone who calls Finland home. In this piece, I unpack my honest answer, explain why cultural misunderstandings can fuel unfair accusations, and offer a personal perspective that pushes back on the growing trend of calling everything racist. Finland isn’t perfect—but it’s not what many think.
